A social entrepreneurship idea on creating a platform for mothers in developing countries to promote safe maternal practices. As part of an international team of participants from across the world, this event was organized to gather participants to work towards solving problems that range from social issues, to environmental, or technological. Teams were formed randomly with a theme to explore.
The first step was that the design process began with conversations with our domain expert who had some experience working for social causes, which had brought her to understand issues that mothers in developing countries faced in the birth process.
Problems related to misinformation, and a lack of accessibility to a good support system for medical information that impair mothers from having knowledge of precautionary things to consider and how to manage the pregnancy period. The lack of accessible information does pose real implications that result in maternal mortality.
A basic bootstrap site was developed as a way to display this potential platform. We prepared a pitch deck to present to an audience that also consisted of investors. We did not strike an interest with them and our project concluded. It was a great experience being able to work with people from various countries and also be part of an event where design practice can extend towards the shortcomings of socio-economic forces.
