Could it be unconventional if a designer sometimes moonlights as an audio engineer or musician? As you know, I've been keeping this section open just in case I could contribute to some short film project or video game.
It seems when working with either sound or music, there's a certain creative process involved while interpreting briefs for different mediums; from software where designers aim to provide ease of use and meet the needs of its user through a process - to films where filmmakers are focused on creating experiences through processes; composing sounds that shape an emotional atmosphere to match their content (especially in sci-fi).
While visual art may not require sound so much, the discussion about sound revolves mainly around how sound serves these different media.
When I'm not paying attention to visual media, audio composition is my time to rejuvenate and grow creatively. Recently, I've found an open-source community for audio production that has inspired me greatly.
